The weight
It pushes her down
keeps her from flying
from spreading her forgotten wings

slithering on the ground
with the weight on her back
she calls for help
for someone to help her up
but they ignore her
shun her as a lost soul
refusing to help her find it

they walk past her
pretend she feels no pain
throw rocks at her
forgetting what she used to be

rain drops dampen her body
tears run down her cheeks
she tries to push herself up
but the weight of her sorrow is too much
too unbearable
she falls back down
never to get up again.
